Summary of Illinois Western Corn Rootworm
Monitoring Program 2000

University of Illinois Extension, Department of Crop Sciences
Compiled by: Susan T. Ratcliffe, Michael E. Gray, and Kevin L. Steffey

Field Trap Averages Broken Out By County

Table of All Field Trap Averages

This summary contains trap capture averages for 271 sites from Illinois. We believe this summary will provide producers with general information regarding the presence of western corn rootworm in their county. However, trap capture averages may vary greatly from field to field within a county. Producers should scout each field and decisions regarding the use of a soil insecticide must be made on a field-by-field basis. We continue to encourage the use of 12 Pherocon AM traps per field over a four week period as described in the Western Corn Rootworm Insect Information sheet to determine if a soil insecticide application is necessary. The four trap method described in the publication is only to determine the presence of the western corn rootworm. University of Illinois Extension would like to thank all the individuals who participated in this program and look forward to continued cooperation to improve control of the western corn rootworm in Illinois.

The Western Corn Rootworm Insect Information sheet is available on the internet, or a copy may be obtained by contacting University of Illinois Extension, Department of Crop Sciences, 1102 S. Goodwin Avenue, Urbana, IL 61801, (217) 333-6651, or via email (ipm@uiuc.edu)

Producers may also report their scouting results directly to the University of Illinois Extension via the Internet.
